Our roots in heat exchanger technology, strengthened by the engineering heritage of over 60 years of combined industry experience, have shaped our reputation for quality, innovation, and speed of delivery. Over the years, we have evolved from these origins into a multi-disciplinary provider, offering heat exchanger supply and service, specialist manpower provision, complex mechanical works, Maintenance Reliability & Operations (MRO) support, and global procurement of industrial products.

From our base in the UK, we operate worldwide with a significant presence in Angola since 2008. There, we’ve invested in training a national workforce, modernising three warehouses in Luanda and Cabinda, and building in-country manufacturing capacity through partnerships with global leaders, such as Flexitallic.
GML Trading’s story is rooted in generations of engineering expertise and a shared passion for delivering excellence.
It begins with Kamel Shehata, who started as a lead inspector and, through dedication and skill, became an authority in the field with over 40 years of experience. His career took him across the globe — from Scotland, Kazakhstan, and Egypt to South Africa, Yugoslavia, Ireland, and Angola — sharing his expertise with clients and solving complex engineering challenges. Kamel served as an advising consultant for the company, building relationships and trust with customers worldwide, transforming it into a family-owned and operated leader in the industry.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Ryan Shehata began his apprenticeship straight out of school, working alongside Kamel and building two decades of industry experience. Ryan went on to drive the international expansion of GML Trading, including the establishment of our Angolan division, modernised warehouse facilities, and strategic partnerships with global leaders.
Today, Ryan works side-by-side with his sister Clare Maginnes and son Chay Shehata, managing the day-to-day operations of GML Trading. This three-generation commitment ensures that the company’s technical expertise, personal service, and uncompromising standards are passed forward, keeping family values at the heart of a globally respected engineering business.
